Avanti Awarded EPA National Aquatic Resource Surveys (NARS) Contract

Avanti Corporation, an Alexandria-based woman-owned small business, is pleased to announce that it has received a 5-year, $31.8 million contract from EPA’s Office of Wetlands, Oceans, and Watersheds (OWOW) to provide support for monitoring the health of the Nation’s waters.

The contract scope covers EPA’s work with state, tribal and federal partners to design and implement NARS. Avanti will support the design, sampling, analyses, and reporting of data collection efforts to characterize wetlands, lakes, rivers/streams, and coastal waters through 2021.

Avanti supported EPA’s efforts to collect the initial data for coastal characterizations in the mid-1990’s for the Gulf of Mexico under the Environmental Monitoring and Assessment Program (EMAP). According to Avanti President and CEO, Lynn Petrazzuolo, “This contract provides an opportunity to continue our support to EPA for assessment and protection of our Nation’s waters. These activities have been part of our core capabilities since Avanti’s start in 1990. We look forward to working with EPA to further this program that documents the health of our water resources and allows for protective actions to be taken where necessary.”

 

Avanti Awarded Task Order to provide EPA Ag Center Support

Avanti has been awarded a three year task order to provide support for EPA’s National Agriculture Center (Ag Center). Avanti will provide compliance assistance and compliance assurance activities for the agricultural community. Support may include conducting a needs analysis for the agricultural community; developing or editing compliance assistance materials and outreach documents; developing, revising, or evaluating reference or guidance manuals, and inspection guidelines; collecting and disseminating information; providing technical support; providing support for measuring success; providing support for the Ag Center and agency websites and other outreach mechanisms; and arranging for, or conducting, training sessions or other meetings or workshops.

Avanti to Provide NOAA with Environmental Compliance Program Assistance

Avanti has been awarded a contract for development and implementation of an Environmental Compliance Program for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA), National Ocean Service (NOS), National Geodetic Survey (NGS) program office. Avanti will support achieving and maintaining an effective environmental compliance program. NGS is engaged in a wide range of activities that have the potential to impact the environment. These activities include such things as funding and conducting scientific research, conservation, restoration and monitoring work, and observations and surveys.

Avanti Wins Contract to Continue Supporting EPA OPPT New and Existing Chemicals Programs

EPA’s Office of Chemical Safety and Pollution Prevention (OCSPP) has awarded Avanti a 5 year follow-on contract to provide Support to the New and Existing Chemicals Programs. Avanti supports the Premanufacture Notice (PMN) Program  by reviewing, screening and tracking PMNs. Avanti develops regulatory histories which are utilized at official regulatory meetings where regulatory outcomes are determined. Avanti is responsible for handling CBI, and capturing the discussions, issues, and their resolutions at the meetings, which are vital to ensure the quality of reviews for new chemicals. We are responsible for efficiently transferring data on these decisions by maintaining multiple databases, maintaining Internet and Intranet sites and by generating accurate accountings of the meetings. Avanti has been supporting the New and Existing Chemicals Programs as a prime contractor since 2005 and we look forward to continuing that support.

Avanti to Continue Support to EPA Region 4 for Offshore Oil and Gas

Avanti will prepare the Environmental Assessment (EA) for the New Source NPDES general permit for offshore oil and gas on the Eastern Gulf of Mexico OCS. The assessment fulfills EPA’s NEPA compliance responsibilities and will address environmental, cultural, and public health impacts; options to avoid or minimize impacts; and measures to mitigate adverse impacts. Avanti prepared the EA for the previous general permit issued in 2009.
